ADAPT Architecture
The mission of the Rhonda Weiss Center for Accessible IDEA Data (Weiss Center) is to help states provide everyone, including individuals with disabilities, access to data. We focus on data related to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This includes Part C and B, Sections 616 and 618.
Introduction
The Weiss Center is developing the Accessible Data Analysis and Publishing Tool (ADAPT). This briefly provides an overview of ADAPT, which will assist states in making their IDEA data accessible to all.
ADAPT is a freely available, modern, accessible Cloud-based reporting tool that helps make IDEA data easier to understand. Hosted in the State’s AWS cloud environment, ADAPT can be leveraged across State Education Agencies (SEAs) and Lead Agencies (LAs) to help meet specific public reporting mandates under IDEA Sections 616 and 618, Part B and Part C. ADAPT allows SEAs and LAs to author and publish IDEA reports in formats that are accessible, usable, and manipulatable by persons with disabilities.
States expend countless resources to the end of efficiently collecting, analyzing, reporting, and using quality IDEA data. Through ADAPT, the Weiss Center is committed to ensuring that everyone, including individuals with disabilities and limited statistical knowledge, has access to these data and the critical stories they tell.
By increasing access to IDEA for a broad group of users and interested parties, our schools, policy makers, educators, and families are more informed and better equipped to make decisions that impact student outcomes.
High-Level ADAPT Workflow
The following diagram provides a simple workflow for ADAPT.

Step 1: Load
State authorized users load data from Generate / CEDS Data Warehouse (DW) reporting tables or IDEA Part B/C Files into ADAPT Admin.
Step 2: Create
In ADAPT Admin, state authorized users create accessible data reports using ADAPT report templates.
Step 3: Review
State authorized administrators review the created data reports and initiate the publish process, when ready.
Step 4: Publish
The suppressed, accessible data reports are published to ADAPT Viewer and available to the public.
